What do workers want?

Most of the public discussion over jobs, employment, and workforce policy doesn’t address that question. The narrative is filtered through the employer’s point of view.

Here’s an antidote. I’ve spent time recently diving into a huge amount of hiring data, and put the highlights into this report. I’ve sorted through 15+ national surveys of workers and employers to get a better sense of What Workers Want and how the hiring system is working for them. (Download your copy here.)

Among the insights in the report:

  • 81% of workers say they’re at risk of burning out; 71% of HR leaders feel the same

  • Workers’ top priorities are higher pay (52%), flexible hours (43%), and remote work (34%)

  • Almost one in three jobseekers say employers that don’t practice salary transparency can’t be trusted

  • A whopping 92% of jobseekers have abandoned online job applications because they’re too complicated or take too long

I hope you find this useful in your career search or hiring decisions.
